I have returned from an all day trip from Cleveland, Ohio. It was an eight hour trip for a career and internship fair. There were many teams there, including the Indians. Most of the teams there were baseball, but the Cavaliers were there. The Lake Erie Monsters were supposed to attend, but never showed. Most of the Cleveland farm system was there, including single-A Mahoning Valley and Lake County, double-A Akron, triple-A Columbus, and of course the Indians. Also making an appearance were the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland State Vikings, looking for sales interns.
I thought that it was a great experience. I handed out about fifteen resumes altogether, talked to a bunch of people knowledgeable in the field. It was good to get my name out there and talk to others in the field.
As a bonus, our Section 100 tickets were upgraded to Club Seats with all the food we could eat. The baseball game would have been a bonus, but the only problem was the rain that lasted all day. The game was finally postponed to a doubleheader the next day.
I would recommend anyone to take a trip to a career fair in whatever they were interested in. The Indians did a great job holding the fair and I am glad I made the trip. I just wish Cleveland wasn’t so far from Dayton, however.
Next article will be about the WSU/UD rivalry. Also, a quick shout-out to the 2010 National League Central champs, the Cincinnati Reds! First trip to the playoffs since 1995!
Until next time folks,
