Greetings readers, it’s been a while.
Anyways, you have probably heard by now about the situation with the Minnesota Vikings. A lot of the players just aren’t getting along with Head Coach Brad Childress, who took the Vikings to the NFC Championship game last year and lost against the Super Bowl champions in the New Orleans Saints.
After the departure of Randy Moss, several unidentified players took some shots on Childress, with one saying he has no people skills. Also in the same article, six Vikings also wished for the head coach to be fired.
Let’s not exclude what the fans think. According to an Associated Content article, the fans want to see him gone. Out of around 37,000 votes, over 90% want him gone. The majority of those votes say that he should be fired today, while a slim 12% say wait until the season is concluded. You also know fans don’t want to see you call any more plays when you have a very own website dedicated to your firing, as well.
So the players and fans aren’t exactly fans of you. What about the owner? Zygi Wilf has thought about giving Childress the boot after the whole Randy Moss mess. How did the coach manage to anger the owner who hired him in 2006? Simple, Childress did not follow protocol by failing to communicate with Wilf and just put Moss on waivers himself. Of course, we know that Moss is now a Titan of Tennessee.
With that being said though, somebody does have Brad’s back. Herm Edwards stated that the Vikes needed to stop bickering and start winning. This is a very similar Minnesota team compared to last year’s that was one win away from the Super Bowl. You have Brett Favre, who had an amazing 2009 season. You having running options with Adrian Peterson, as well as Wide Receivers in Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe. Of course, the defense should give anyone fits with Jared Allen and the Williams brothers.
As of 11/11/2010, the Vikings are 3-5. Technically, Minnesota can still get to the playoffs but will have a lot of work to do to get back to the promised land. The Purple and Gold do have a Monday Night Football game at home against the Chicago Bears.
Before you question if I’m anti-Chilly or for the former Offensive Coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, I’m neutral. I do think the Vikings are a lot better than the 3-5 record, but is that just coaching or is it the players not trying hard enough? Like I said, I don’t know the whole situation so I’ll just stay neutral.
Well, thanks for reading. Sorry for another long delay, but I’m almost done with college. I shall leave you with a quote from the folks at firechilly.com, which has quotes of some of the sillier things that Brad Childress has said.
“He’s like a piece of gristle. He’s got a great squirt in the hole.”
I’ll let you laugh at that one by yourselves. Until next time,
