Today I’m reviewing the SportsTap app available in the Android Market and the App Store. Brought to you by Score Media Ventures, the same people that brought you ScoreMobile, this app is fairly similar to their brother product. On their newest update in the Android Market, the branding was added (it’s not shown on this picture.)
One of the neat features on this app is the home screen. On the first four buttons, you have the big leagues. Afterwards, the other sports/leagues are categorized in what sport they are. There are also red circles with numbers in them, stating how many games in that league/sport are active today.
Another neat feature is “LocalTap”, which can locate any game from either 50 miles, 100 miles, or 200 miles away. It does require for you to allow it to know where you are, though. While it’s nice to see on college and professional teams nearby, it can’t pick up high school games (if that’s what you were think LocalTap could do. That’s probably unrealistic considering that there’s a ton of high schools in the country, but still.)
The app runs really well on my Droid, the options are fairly nice and easy to understand, I haven’t experienced a crash yet on about two hours of testing. Honestly, no real complaints from this writer.
As of 10/31/2011, Android Market users have given this app an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars, with a little over 33,000 ratings. In the App Store, users voted this app 3.5 out of 5 with 12 ratings.
It’s a good little app for sports scores, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a new app!
