Today is a big day for this sportscaster. Fall sports are beginning again for 2013. That means football, volleyball, and soccer start up this week, and it couldn’t be a bigger week for this Broadcaster and P.A. Announcer.
This year, I’m the Public Address Announcer for both Dayton Flyers soccer teams. During the off days, I’ll broadcast a couple of football games with the Gem City Sports Network. This will take me to November for the second season of Dayton Demonz hockey.
Last year, I started my trek into the Ohio Sports Radio Network with a high school football game in New Carlisle. The Tecumseh Arrows powered their way through the Fairborn Skyhawks 42-20 at home. I would have 92 more games with the station until it was time to pull the plug on that station.
I’ve had one exhibition of practice so far, where the Women’s Soccer team fell to Miami (FL) 2-1. It was Move-In week for the Flyers, with school starting up very soon.
Tonight (August 30th, 2013) is a White-Out Night for the Flyin’ Faithful, as the Women’s Soccer team hosts Cincinnati. Dayton is 1-1-0 on the season, with a one-goal loss at Boston before shutting out Providence College 3-0. The Bearcats are 0-2-0, with two road losses at Miami (FL) and Nebraska. In the All-Time series, Cincinnati leads 12-5-1. The last time these two teams met on the pitch, Dayton won at home 1-0 in 2008. For the Flyers, Head Coach Mike Tucker rolls on in his 19th season, where the Bearcats are led by first-year Head Coach Neil Stafford.
Besides being excited to see these two teams battle, I’m just ready to come back and be the voice of Baujan Field.
Admission is free, so if you’re interested, come on down to the pitch!

Until next time,
